        Tall enough*

        and at

        the fullness

        of the season

        for ripe

        green cones

        to open

        in the wind-timed

        clockwork

        of dark branches

        and release

        a myriad seed

        small winged ghosts

        scattered

        in the battle

        and at

        the mercy

        of the day.
